GA5526 Discovery 2 Disc Brake Handbrake Kit (LT230 only)

Description

The original transmission brake on a Land Rover Defender, Discovery or Range Rover Classic is not the most efficient handbrake system. On vehicles used in wet and muddy conditions the brake can rapidly run out of adjustment or become partially or even completely seized. A seized brake is almost as likely to seize on as it is off which can then lead to vibration, overheating and accelerated wear. All these issues ultimately result in a handbrake that does not work.

This disc brake handbrake kit uses a precision machined brake disc, combined with a unique fully floating brake caliper that retains its brake pads that are gently sprung loaded to prevent rattling. The high clamping force of the caliper, even when combined with a smaller diameter disc than the original brake drum makes for a more effective system than a well serviced original set up. An added bonus of a smaller diameter brake disc is the reduced chance of the brake getting hung up on oostacles.

This disc brake handbrake kit comes with a sturdy mounting plate incorporating a disc protector as well as a new handbrake cable to ensure perfect operation. GA5513 is suitable for all Defenders up to 2016. Vehicles from 1993 requires NRC5088 handbrake cable. For 2007 on Defenders chassis cross member alteration may be required.
